More Portraits

Since I came back to Ukraine, I've been working on portraits while preparing for a trip in Tajikistan. I still shoot drug addicts in the town, but I kind of feel stuck on this these days. It's pretty hard to follow around them. I haven't published this story, but this type of story doesn't sell... Well, if it's not gonna be published, what's the point? I mean I really think drug addiction is a serious problem here. I heard one third of youngsters here have tried drug harder than marijuana. Anyway, I still like shoot them, so I continue it while I'm here. I also started shooting portraits of them. I don't know if color would give me a better chance for publication, but it might...

The color makes me feel like I've been transported to the seventies

Ikuru... the bottom one is truly gorgeous! Glad to see you´re back at it, and I admire your tenacity in traveling so far to get your film processed (we were so spoiled in America...!)

Thanks for the comments - except for the Dentist (I know who you are). I just got another set of film processed, and it was a pain in the ass.

David - the guy in the first picture has problems with bones after taking too much drug. It's called Pervitin, which is meth. I've shot another guy with the same problem before. Seems like there are quite a few people who have the same problem.
